Welcome to my vlog as I embark on my first trip of 2023 to Najaf, Iraq, to celebrate the New Year and explore the city's culinary delights. In this video, I take you on a food journey as I try traditional Iraqi chai and Ayran, a sour yoghurt drink native to Middle Eastern cuisine, for the first time. But the highlight of my food adventure was having freshly cut goat kidney and livers with just salt as marination, cooked in Iraqi style barbeque early morning after Fajr prayers near Maulana Ali A.S Haram Sharif on a very cold and foggy morning of 5 degrees Celsius. Not only was it a mouth-watering experience, but it was also a spiritual awakening, starting my New Year in such a sacred place. Join me as I take you on this food and spiritual journey through the heart of Iraq, discovering the best food in Najaf and experiencing the city's rich culture and traditions.
