Ramadan Healing Series Part 3/4: Following on from the previous podcast I will teach you a successful way to elevate your narcissistic Nafs (also known as the 'lower self') by practicing self-reflection, getting the help you need and implementing various other strategies that will help you fight it and regain control of your ego, so you can reduce the amount of sins you commit, increase the amount of good deeds in their place and elevate to the 'higher self'. “[I swear by] the Nafs and [by] Him who made it perfect, and then inspired it to understand what is wrong and what is right for it. Truly is successful the one who purifies his/her Nafs.” (Al-Qur’an, 91:7-9). Imam Ja’far al‑Sadiq (ra) said: *“The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) dispatched a contingent of the army (to the battlefront). Upon their (successful) return, he said: ‘Blessed are those who have performed the minor jihad on the battlefield (holy war) and have yet to perform the major jihad.’ When asked, ‘What is the major jihad?’ the Prophet (pbuh) replied: ‘The jihad of the Self/Nafs (struggle against one’s Nafs that is inclined to sin)’”*.
