Taken from his long deleted Soundcloud, this was, as far as I can tell, the first and original version of the song Seventeen. Of course, the title is much different here, though Jesse clearly couldn't figure out a name, having 4 separate titles over the years. Personally, I still call it by this title. The history of this one is hard to track down, sadly. I bulk downloaded it along with the rest of the first batch of Soundcloud songs on October 27, 2013, so it was posted sometime in 2013, but that's all I really know. Jesse did, however, have another demo (I believe so, it has a 3 second difference from this) on a "Demos" release on Bandcamp from July 2013, though as that is the last track, and Bandcamp only shows the original date the project was uploaded... that specific version could've been uploaded any time from July 29, 2013 to May 30, 2014. Weirdly, Jesse didn't seem to ever promote this song (as least on his Reddit), considering he'd later use this as a lead single for his album "Red Trees and White Trashes" in 2018, which is not only another alternate title of this song, but taken from it as well (duh!) All of that to say, I have no clue when this was uploaded. On a personal level, this song means a lot to me. Before Indiana took the place, this was probably my all time favorite Jesse Welles song for many many years (2013-2019ish). I remember sitting on my couch, listening to this song, and wishing I got the chance to meet him one day and hear this song live. I got that very wish in late 2018, and you can check out both the live recording from my first Jesse Welles show, and the other demo of the song under it's "Red Trees and White Trashes" name on this channel. Lyrics: White skin underwater You know she's somebody's daughter You know I'm somebody's daughter I'm here tonight, I will haunt her I'm here tonight and I have caught her And it's cold in the water I wonder if I should bother You know she's somebody's daughter When she gets old it will haunt her But I'm here, and I've got her Seventeen So unclean Yeah I was young I was far out We can hold hands, we can make out We can sit silent or cry out You're pretty when you cop-out Transgendered and washed out I can see past your short hair Tellin' me that you don't care He ain't here but he's somewhere And I'm had so I don't care I know I'm in, but I'm out there Seventeen So unclean And will they ever forgive us? All wet-lipped and guiltless? From our end we're like winners Then we're all just beginners Of some miserable game I'll take you on to Ar-kansas Where there's beer and molasses We'll let time fly on past us The whole world, kiss our asses Through red trees and white trashes Seventeen So holy Oh my god
