Shortly after dawn on 22nd January 1879 in the far reaches of the British Empire, a column of redcoats sat down to breakfast. They didn’t know it, but just a few miles away, a massive Army of 20,000 Zulu warriors lay in wait. By the time the sun set that evening, several thousand men lay dead, the British camp overrun and the entire garrison destroyed in one of the worst defeats in the Army’s history.
