Escape and Evasion Pack - Overview

The so-called "escape and evasion" pack or kit is something that I conceptualized in my late teens as a way to carry things that could aid in escape from hostile elements. It is mainly geared for an urban environment and it is purely defensive non-lethal. A firearm was not an option at that time. Also, at that time, I had no access to tear gas. The main elements were going to be smoke generation and noise/flash or flare generation for distraction and obscuration. It never progressed past the concept stage. After seeing the tear gas canisters available at Keep Shooting, I decided to realize the concept. I purchased a few of the canisters, and searched for the appropriate smoke generating portion. I found 9 volt battery ignited smoke bombs from smokegrenade.net, but they stopped selling them before I could make a purchase. I settled for the Mammoth Smoke "grenades" from them instead, and simply cut the flame-lit fuse to lessen the time between ignition and smoke generation. The other part was to include flash and noise makers in the form of a string of firecrackers. Smoke, percussive noise and visual flash and tearing/lacrimation agents would work in combination to dissuade pursuit and help one effect escape. I included the string pull snaps for possible use as a trip alarm for encampments. This was not an original part of the concept.
