με το spark στις γεφυρες του Γοργοποτάμου και της Παπαδιάς The first bridge is gorgopotamos and its history is : The railway bridge over the river is famous for one of the biggest sabotage acts of World War II, "Operation Harling".[1] Operation Harling was a British mission and 150 Greek partisans blew it up on 25 November 1942, cutting off German supplies being transported between Athens and Thessaloniki (mostly headed for Africa). The blast destroyed two of the six piers of the bridge. The IV Railway Engineer Battalion, of the Railway Engineer Regiment of the Royal Italian Army repaired the bridge in 19 days, replacing the destroyed piers with the still existing steel girders.[2] The area around the bridge is now a monument. The engineer who designed and built the original bridge was an Italian immigrant and Gorgopotamos local by the name of Agostino Tacconi, who used clever engineering at the time utilising unique parts making the bridge difficult to reconstruct in a timely manner. The British forces found this to be ideal as the Germans could not reconstruct it. source wikipedia. The second bridge is papadias and its story is : An emblematic point of topographic designation is the historic Papadia Bridge which is located just below the settlement. A little further is the also historic Asopos Bridge, with the gorge of incomparable beauty that separates Mount Kallidromo with the mountain range of Oiti. The construction of the Piraeus-Larissa railway began in 1890. It took more than fifteen years to complete. Most of the time and the largest expenditure was required for the works from the gallery of Bralos to the bridge of Gorgopotamos. The bridge of Papadia was particularly drachmas and time consuming. At that time for Greece it was the most important and largest technical project. It is the highest bridge in the country with a height of 99 meters, while the adjacent tunnel from Skamnos to Bralo is the largest in length. Its completion and inauguration took place in 1905. The bridge of Papadia has been blown up and demolished twice: One by the English, when they left in 1941 and one by the Germans, when they left Greece in 1944. May God be the last. source https://www.middlearth.gr/index.php/e...
