In the final few months of leasing our much-loved 2017 Bolt, we're taking every opportunity to pit the old fella against its replacement, the 2020 Chevy Bolt EV. This was our most anticipated test yet, comparing range and efficiency in spring temperatures that more accurately match the cars' respective EPA ranges (238 miles for the 2017, 259 miles for the 2020). We used a much-needed family nature break to test both cars on various roads and different speeds, getting down to the 50% mark on the first test day. I followed that up with back-to-back runs at Interstate speeds, bringing both cars down to the final quarter of their packs and giving a good indication of what Bolt EV drivers can expect to see in the months leading up to summer. Did the older Bolt upstage its newer sibling once again, as we observed with the cold weather efficiency test in early March? (see that one here: • 2017 vs. 2020 Chevy Bolt EV: Cold Weather ... ) Things were much closer this time and should please prospective owners of either a new 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV or a used 2017 model. We have just over a month left with the 2017 Premier and will be doing a side-by-side comparison, inside and out, in the next couple of weeks. If there's anything you'd like to see tested before the car goes back, leave a comment (or email plugandplayEV@gmail.com) and we'll try to make it happen! Thanks for watching and everyone be well. --- Music: www.bensound.com Twitter: / plugandplayev Instagram: / plugandplayev
