This video walks through the Snapshot Preferences interface and shows how Salesforce administrators and developers can customize many aspects of the Snapshot environment. The Preferences panel is available from the Snapshot menu in the main workspace and provides centralized control over AI services, security settings, data migration behavior, reporting options, and user interface preferences. One of the first options available is the configuration of AI services. Snapshot supports both Gemini and OpenAI AI providers. Users can run Snapshot using the free versions of these services, or they can supply their own developer API keys for Gemini or OpenAI. Organizations that do not want to use AI at all can disable all AI functionality directly from the Preferences interface. Snapshot also allows you to control how metadata asset comparisons are displayed. You can choose to see detailed differences between assets or view differences grouped by child metadata type. This makes it easier to analyze metadata changes depending on the level of detail you prefer. Command line logging can also be enabled or disabled from the Preferences interface. This option is particularly useful when troubleshooting automation or command-line integration issues, because it allows developers to see the commands Snapshot is executing. Credential storage is another important configuration option. Snapshot can store credentials in an ephemeral mode, where credentials must be entered again each session, or in persistent encrypted storage on the local machine. This gives organizations flexibility in balancing security policies with convenience. The Preferences interface also includes several options related to data migration. Administrators can configure how Snapshot calculates external references, builds retry datasets for failed records, defines the default external ID field used during migrations, and determines the batch size used for record upserts. These settings allow users to fine-tune how Snapshot performs large-scale data migrations. Default dialog settings control how Snapshot behaves when new Snapshot items or deployment arrows are created on the workspace desktop. Adjusting these options can streamline repetitive workflows. Deployment history tracking can also be configured. Snapshot can create deployment history records in the license org, allowing teams to maintain a record of deployments and coordinate activities across administrators and developers. The Intelligent Assistant can also be configured from the Preferences panel. Users can enable or disable the assistant and choose whether it should automatically open when Snapshot starts. Snapshot includes a Metadata Notes feature that allows teams to attach documentation and comments to metadata assets. Preferences allow administrators to control the visibility and access rights associated with these notes. The Metazoa folder settings determine where the local Metazoa sandbox folder is stored on your machine. This allows users to place Snapshot working files in a preferred directory. Additional user interface options allow you to enable or disable sound effects, control the number of tooltips that appear in the interface, and switch between the modern and traditional user interface styles. Several tabs within the Preferences interface focus on scheduling reports and sharing Snapshot reports and dashboards. Administrators can configure content repositories, local folders, Chatter groups, email delivery, or Slack channels as destinations for scheduled reports. The Actions tab allows advanced customization by executing command lines or performing actions such as launching an application or opening a browser when specific events occur in Snapshot. Finally, the Branding tab allows organizations to customize reports with their own logo, URL, and messaging. This feature is particularly popular with system integrators and enterprises that want Snapshot reports to reflect their corporate branding. Together, these settings make the Snapshot Preferences interface a powerful control center for customizing how Snapshot operates within your Salesforce environment.
