Ansel Adams Circuit from Agnew Meadow / Banner Peak

Took a two day hike in Ansel Adams Wilderness on August 2nd and 3rd 2025. Approximate map here: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map... Started from Agnew Meadow via High Trail to 1000 Island Lake and then Catherine Lake, where I set my camp. Climbed to the ridge that afternoon for some nice views. Next day climbed to Ritter-Banner Saddle, and then to Banner Peak. Soon after departure realized that I should have taken the crampons, instead of the micro spikes, which were very bad on the icy snow. Luckily enough my late departure turned into an involuntary good decision, as by the time it came to descend the steep couloir from the saddle towards Ediza Lake on the southern side, the sun softened the snow in the couloir, allowing me a decent, but slow, descent with the micro spikes and the ice-axe. Returned by the evening to Agnew Meadow. A lot of people on the mountain that day, as it turned out that `Sierra Challenge` had scheduled a stage from Agnew Meadow to Ritter / Banner during the same day. All in all a very nice hike with great views and excellent weather.
