(19 Jan 2000) Natural Sound Irish Hat designer, Philip Treacy, presented an unusual Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2000 collection in Paris on Wednesday. Hats-only shows are very rare in the High Fashion world and certainly Treacy's, at the Hotel George, was an original one. London-based milliner Philip Treacy has come a long way since his first show in New York, in April 1997. His outrageous sculptural headpieces have achieved international fame, and his latest show in Paris revealed he had not lost any momentum in the intervening years. Treacy's hats are art pieces - most of them surreal. Naomi Campbell was one of the surprises of the show, her first in Haute Couture this season. She and other supermodels like Kate Moss and Helena Christensen appeared in the first show in New York. Small, colourful, and more theatrical than wearable, Treacy's hats were shown with outfits donated by many Haute Couture designers for the occasion. You won't find them at your local department store, but they are available by mail order on the internet.
