ÀYÁNBÁYỌ̀ ÀYÁNWỌ̀BI is a drummer who hailed from Ilé Oníṣẹmọ Onílù, Òkè Ìsoko, Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́, Oyo State, Nigeria. He has been playing drum for not less than 40 years with profound experience. There's hardly a kind of drum he cannot play or beat. This is the first part of the video ÌLÙ ÌṢẸ̀ǸBÁYÉ NÍLẸ̀ YORÙBÁ — YORÙBÁ ANCIENT TONAL DRUM. Who are those who drums in Yorùbá land, How can we learn how to drum, do they always borrow soap and sponge to bath new babies in a drummer's family, does drumming profession permits begging, what does it mean to be Àyàn? And many other drum related questions are those answered in this video. There is a uniqueness Yorùbá drum carries with three basic tonation. Yorùbá drums are very common now in the world especially Africa region and they are widely accepted. They've featured in diverse international festivals because of there resounding honour and uniqueness. We categorize some drums under Dùndún, for example, Ìyá Ìlù, Àpàlà, Àdàmọ̀, Gángan and few more. Ìlù Dùndún remains the class of the most used Yorùbá drum because of its ability to say words clearly than any other category. We have the class of Bàtá, for example, Omele Akọ, Omele Abo, Ẹ̀jìn, Ìyá Ìlù, Gbẹgbẹ and others are under this category. We have some other drums that are not common again now like Bẹ̀m̀bẹ́, Kósó, Àpíìtí Àlùkọjúọ́run and many others. There are some of these drums with not more than one specific usage.
