A video of my visit to Kalemegdan Fortress in Belgrade, Serbia. Standing tall over the confluence of the Danube and Sava Rivers the Kalemegdan Fortress has defended the city of Belgrade for hundreds of years. Defensive fortifications have stood in the same place since the 2nd century, when the Romans built a fort to defend the strategically important area that overlooks the plains surrounding the city. During the Austro-Turkish War and the time when the Austro-Hungarian Empire sought to take over the European Continent, the Kalemegdan Fortress was said to be one of most powerful defensive fortifications in all of Europe. Today, the Kalemegdan Fortress is a beautiful park and open-air museum in central Belgrade.
