Don't expect to encounter special facilities as you would imagine in a similar space, somewhere else. Of course, there is a building at the entrance of Thermia that looks modern, but it is abandoned in time. As for the springs, they are located in the mountains. They are concentrated in smaller sources and from there, through a network of pipes and hoses, the water is distributed to the specially built "pools", for two or three people, which are closed with sheet metal. 20 to 60 degrees Celsius. Το σίγουρο είναι πως δεν πρόκειται για έναν τυπικό τουριστικό προορισμό με λουτρά! Η «παραγκούπολη» των Θερμιών Μετά από διαδρομή περίπου μίας ώρας, με αφετηρία το Παρανέστι, στο βορειοανατολικό άκρο του νομού Δράμας, πάνω στην οροσειρά της Ροδόπης και σε υψόμετρο 620μ. ξεπροβάλλει μέσα από το δάσος του ένας μικρός οικισμός με 120 περίπου αυτοσχέδιες καλύβες, φτιαγμένες ως επί το πλείστον με λαμαρίνες, από ανθρώπους που επισκέπτονται τα λουτρά εδώ και 35-40 χρόνια. Βέβαια, το παλιό πέτρινο υδροθεραπευτήριο μαρτυρά την ανθρώπινη παρουσία στους αιώνες.Οι μισές παράγκες βρίσκονται κάτω από το δρόμο, κοντά στο ρέμα και οι υπόλοιπες πάνω απ’ αυτόν, ενώ την προσοχή θα σας τραβήξει και το εκκλησάκι των Αγίων Θεοδώρων. Το καταπράσινο περιβάλλον και η απόλυτη ησυχία, εκτός από τον ήχο του νερού τόσο από τις πηγές όσο και από το ποτάμι, έρχονται σε πλήρη αντίθεση με την εικόνα της λαμαρίνας, που κυριαρχεί ως στοιχείο δόμησης.Μέσα σ’ αυτές τις καλύβες «κρύβονται» υπαίθριες… πισίνες, όπου τρέχουν τα ιαματικά λουτρά ενώ κάποιες άλλες είναι απλά καταλύματα. Μην περιμένετε να συναντήσετε ιδιαίτερες εγκαταστάσεις όπως θα φανταζόσασταν σε αντίστοιχο χώρο, κάπου αλλού..Τα λουτρά Θερμιών Παρανεστίου, αποτελούνται από μεταλλικό υποτονικό ιαματικό νερό, θερμοκρασίας μεταξύ 20 έως 60 βαθμών κελσίου. Οι θεραπευτικές ενδείξεις του είναι για ρευματοπάθειες, αρθροπάθειες, οσφυαλγίες, ισχιαλγίες, παθήσεις των ουροφόρων οδών του ύπατος και των χοληφόρων οδών.Η διαδρομή
