Julie was last seen leaving her mother's home in Elk Grove, California. She left behind her phone, cash, uncashed checks, and most of her personal belongings—an uncharacteristic move for someone who depended on her phone for directions and communication. She drove away in a 2005 tan Toyota Camry with Georgia plates, a vehicle that still hasn’t been located. Despite exhaustive efforts scanning the Sacramento River, and ponds near her usual routes, her car—and with it, answers—remains elusive. In today's search, the team investigates a new lead. A local tip suggested a vehicle may have veered off the road near a state building, collided with the structure, and flew over railroad tracks into the river. The team retraces the scene with the help of community members, even climbing hillsides to inspect guardrails and evaluating whether such a path of destruction is physically possible. The result? A partially plausible but ultimately unconfirmed theory. No tire marks up the hillside. But as AWP knows—sometimes the wildest scenarios are the ones that turn out to be true. The team also explores bodies of water between the Walmart where Julie made her last known purchase and her mother’s home. This includes several neighborhood retention ponds and levees, many of which have dried up over the recent months, reducing their viability as hiding spots for a submerged vehicle. But one detail raises eyebrows: a mirror from a 2005-2009 Toyota Camry found near a restaurant close to Julie’s path. Could it be hers? Back on the river, they shift attention to the Sacramento County side between Clarksburg and Walnut Grove, noting stretches of River Road with no guardrails—prime areas where a vehicle could go unnoticed if it left the roadway. While searching these sections by boat, the sonar team spots several suspicious hits, only to have most of them debunked as submerged tree roots or debris. Julie’s case is especially emotional. She was independent, yet vulnerable—her friends described her as having bad eyesight, relying heavily on maps and GPS.
