Dry January looks very different for me in 2026 than it ever has before. This is my third year participating in Dry January, and I wanted to share—honestly and vulnerably—why it feels so much easier now than it did in the past. In earlier years, I was truly “white-knuckling it,” counting down the days, battling cravings, and not fully understanding why it felt so hard. Looking back, I can now see how much I was using alcohol as self-medication—to escape anxiety, self-criticism, and relentless internal pressure. I talk openly in this video about: • Alcohol cravings and why they can feel so intense • The difference between biological addiction and emotional coping • How alcohol was impacting my anxiety, energy, and mornings • The role self-awareness played in changing my relationship with drinking • How alternative options and mindset shifts helped loosen alcohol’s grip I also share why this transformation didn’t happen overnight—and why it had less to do with willpower and more to do with learning how to be kinder to myself. If this topic resonates with you, I also have another channel where I go deeper into reframing thoughts and changing our internal dialogue (link in the comments).
