The production of the adapter sleeve for the MN-80 lathe is shown in detail. The sleeve allows you to switch from a metric taper 1:20 in the machine spindle to an internal taper KM2. The bushing allows you to install various tools with a KM2 cone in the machine spindle: drill chuck, cutters, collet chuck, boring head. Shows how the cutter is installed and the work of the cutter. To grind a taper 1:20, I deployed the upper slide with a rolling-in indicator along the inner taper of the spindle, into which this bushing will be installed. More details can be found here: 2:07 • ВТУЛКА ПЕРЕХОДНАЯ для ступенчатых ЦАН... After grinding, I checked the cone against the paint by inserting it into the spindle cone. The fit is good. Inside it is necessary to carve a KM2 cone. For cones 1:20 and KM2, the angles are 1 ° 25´56 "and 1 ° 25´50", respectively. The difference is 6 ", this is very small. When the indicator is set to zero on one cone, on the second, with a sleeve length of 50 mm, there should theoretically be a deviation of 1.5 microns, a conventional indicator with a price division of one hundred square meters will not show such a deviation. Therefore, the inner cone I made with the same position of the top slide as for the outer metric cone After manufacture I checked this cone against the paint on gauge KM2. The fit is good. Here's how I controlled how much to bore the inner taper. The amount of boring must be controlled by a gauge, but it must be inserted from the left side of the part, and this is impossible without removing the part. I inserted the gauge from the other side and used the following consideration. If the gauge is inserted into the bushing correctly, then it protrudes by a certain amount, for example, 5 mm. If the gauge is inserted from the other side, then it enters inward by exactly the same amount, for example, 5 mm. On the KM2 caliber I marked with a marker the amount of protrusion (deepening) for the length of my sleeve - 50 mm. He bored the cone until the caliber was inserted to this mark. For the caliber to move 1 mm, the diameter must be bored by 0.05 mm, that is, there must be a ratio of 1:20. After boring the inner taper, I checked it by inserting the gauge correctly. The caliber was inserted to the first risk. An indirect method of caliber control with its installation on the other side turned out to be good. Turning the outer and inner cones in one setting ensured practically zero runout of the cones relative to each other. The cone could be sharpened in one setting and on the other side of the sleeve, but then an additional technological protrusion of 5-7 mm in length would have to be made at the sleeve to fix the sleeve in the chuck of the machine. In this case, the caliber would have to be set correctly immediately. In order to fix the tool in the spindle using this sleeve, I made a pull - a ramrod. Shows how I made this ramrod. Thus, this adapter sleeve with an internal cone KM2 expands the capabilities of the MN-80 lathe. It allows you to use on this machine a variety of tools for drilling, boring, milling, even without a milling attachment.
