This video follows a family's journey to pick cotton after leaving the grape vineyards. The video shows a slice of life in California's Central Valley, highlighting the labor rights of workers. The constant movement and harvesting is a way of life for these migrants. #centralvalley #migrants #laborrights #harvesting #cotton The intense account of a family's journey through the California countryside, living a life of constant movement, from strawberry fields to cotton fields, and from campsites to sheds. Narrated by a young man who yearns to study and earn the right to choose his home, this is a story of survival, faith, and hope. A journey that will open readers' hearts and minds. Francisco Jiménez immigrated to California with his family from Tlaquepaque, Mexico. As a child, he worked in California's agricultural fields, and the stories in Cardboard Boxes are largely autobiographical, as are his children's books, The Butterfly and The Christmas Gift. Border Paths, the sequel to Cardboard Boxes, is entirely autobiographical. Francisco Jiménez received his MA and PhD from Columbia University and now chairs the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Santa Clara University. He lives in Santa Clara, California, with his wife and three children.
