BNSF Railway has a large fleet of SD60Ms that used to be a staple in coal service. As new locomotives were delivered, and coal started to fade away, these powerful units were reassigned to transfer jobs and regular freight traffic. In this video, we'll see green and orange SD60Ms working the BNCP Transfer in the Twin Cities, Minnesota area back in 2010. The first scene starts at Northtown Yard as a one of a kind, rare, H2 SD60M departs for Saint Paul Yard with a CEFX AC44 bound for the CP. We see it exciting the tunnels at Westminster as coasting down the hill after that. After this we'll get another look at the BNCP as it hits the diamonds of Park Jct in some warm afternoon sun. As it clears, we see it meeting another manifest with GEs screaming and moving its train east. The SD60Ms are still around on the BNSF in 2021, but most of them now wear H4 paint and green ones are dwindling in numbers. Copyright 2021 Douglas Hildebrandt, all rights reserved.
