The Carl Goldberg Products 'J3 Piper Cub' runs a 500KV Dualsky brushless motor, 100 Amp ESC, 6S 5400mAh LiPo, and turns a 13x8.5 prop for smooth scale performance. Flight Review: I was again flying on the success battery and honestly I do not think I will be going back to the forest battery in this aircraft. After lining up on the tarmac I checked all control surfaces and took off towards the south, then promptly set up a circuit over the north end of the strip and the swampy area. I stayed working this section early in the flight while other aircraft were taking off and being recovered. Once the airspace was clear I began bringing the Cub lower with some gentle circuits and a few nice low passes. Most of the first half was flown at around one third to half throttle which still left plenty in reserve if I needed climb performance. At each end of the runway I pulled into some higher climbing passes just to keep the energy up and explore the vertical capability. I also committed to my first proper inverted segment with this model. The roll rate out is slow which has always made me hesitant, but with the extra power available I felt confident enough to hold it briefly before rolling back upright. It was a little tense but very rewarding and showed the aircraft has more envelope than I usually give it credit for. For landing I first performed a couple of touch and goes before setting up the final approach. I reduced throttle at altitude and let the Cub settle into a long gliding descent which is one of its best qualities. You can really hear the electronics working as it floats in. Touchdown was on the heavier side this time but still controlled, followed by a smooth rollout and a relaxed debrief on what was another enjoyable scale flight.
