A late January winter storm rolled through the Northeast and delivered 7 to 10 inches of snow across parts of Pennsylvania — and when that happens on the East Coast, you show up. I drove through the storm in my Subaru Crosstrek (aka Alaska) to chase one of the best powder days Blue Mountain has seen this season. This was my first time riding real East Coast POW — not icy leftovers, not dust on crust — but legit float. My carving has improved a lot this year, but let’s be honest… underneath all that beautiful snow, there’s always ice hiding somewhere. Progression is real — but so is gravity. Blue Mountain may not be massive, but on a storm day like this, it absolutely delivers. Long lift lines? Yes. Worth it? Also yes. Shoutout to ski patrol — the unsung heroes keeping everyone safe. And if you ever get the chance to stay for sunset after a storm day, do it.
