🇵🇱 Ulokowane w górskim krajobrazie Ústí nad Labem to miasto z tradycjami akademickimi i przemysłowymi. Zgodnie z nazwą, leży w dolinie Łaby i jest częścią półmilionowej aglomeracji północnoczeskiej. W samym mieście żyje obecnie ok. 90 tys. osób, ale w początkach XIX w. populacja ledwie przekraczała 2 tys. Rozkwit miasta nastąpił bowiem dopiero wraz z rozwojem przemysłu i transportu od 1830 roku. Rozwinął się tu m.in. przemysł górniczy, chemiczny i przetwórczy, co niestety do dziś ma wpływ na środowisko. Boom przemysłowy wymagał wydajnego transportu, toteż jednocześnie rozwijano zarówno żeglugę, jak i kolej. W 1851 roku ukończono linię kolejową Praga - Děčín - Drezno, dziś oznaczoną numerem 090. Zbudowana tuż nad rzeką stacja w Ústí nad Labem szybko stała się ważnym węzłem przeładunkowym. Z czasem układ torowy znacznie się rozrósł i dziś tworzy olbrzymi węzeł z okolicznymi stacjami Západ i Střekov. Ponadto, po prawej stronie Łaby biegną równoległe linie 072 i 073, a oba brzegi łączy jedyny w okolicy most. Na lewobrzeżu do linii 090 dołączają jeszcze linie 130 i 131. Hlavní nádraží ma zaledwie 3 główne perony (oraz boczny 1a), ale obsługuje duży ruch pociągów. Położenie dworca między Łabą a skalistym zboczem Mariánskeho vrchu nadaje mu niezwykłego charakteru. 🇬🇧 Located in a mountainous landscape, Ústí nad Labem is a city with academic and industrial traditions. As its name suggests, it lies in the Elbe Valley and is part of the North Bohemian agglomeration with 0,5 million population. Approx 90,000 people currently live in the city itself, but at the beginning of 19th century the population barely exceeded 2,000. The city flourished only with the development of industry and transport from 1830. Mining, chemical and processing industries developed here, which unfortunately still has an impact on the environment. The industrial boom required efficient transportation, so both shipping and railways were developed simultaneously. In 1851, the Prague - Děčín - Dresden railway line was completed, which today is marked by 090 number. The station in Ústí nad Labem, built right at the riverbank, quickly became an important hub. Over time, the track system has expanded and today it forms a huge node with the surrounding Západ and Střekov stations. On the right side of the Elbe there are parallel lines 072 and 073, and both banks are connected by the only bridge in the area. On the left bank, lines 130 and 131 join the 090 line. The Hlavní nádraží station has only 3 main platforms (and side 1a), but handles large train traffic.
