Lufthansa departed on January 31st 2021 on an over 13,000km (over 7000NM) long journey from Hamburg to Mount Pleasant. Flight LH2574 is operated by an Airbus A350-941 registered D-AIXP. This marks the longest flight operated from the 110 year old Hamburg Airport and is the longest Lufthansa flight in history. This very special flight brings scientists from Bremen's Alfred-Wegener-Institute to the Falkland Islands where they hop on the German vessel Polarstern to be transported to the Neumeyer Station III in Antarctica. Am 31. Januar 2021 hob Lufthansa zu einem über 13,000km (7000 Nautische Meilen) langen Flug von Hamburg nach Mount Pleasant auf die Falklandinseln ab. Lufthansa setzte auf Flug LH2574 einen Airbus A350-941 mit der Registrierung D-AIXP ein. Dieser besondere Flug bringt Wissenschaftler und Besatzung vom Alfred-Wegner-Institut zu den Falklandinseln, von wo aus sie auf dem deutschen Forschungsschiff Polarstern zur Neumeyer Station III in der Antarktis reisen.
