Ingredients: Sardines 15 Grated Coconut 1 cup Shallots (button onions)15-20 Ginger 1 tsp Green chillies 8-9 Curry leaves 3-4 sprigs Turmeric powder 1 tsp Salt to taste Chilli powdee 1 tsp Kodampuli 2-3 soaked Coconut oil 3-4 tbsp Method: 1. Clean and cut fish into small pieces . 2. Soak Kodampuli in water for around 15-20 minutes. 3. In a chopper or small mixi jar add Coconut, Shallots, ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and curry leaves and chop coarsely. Do not make a paste. 4. Take a clay pot and add cut fish, coarsely ground masala , 3-4 tbsp water , 3-4 tbsp Coconut oil and few sprigs of curry leaves. 5. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for around 15-20 minutes or until fish is cooked. Note: 1. Kodampuli is a type of dried fruit commonly used in place of tamarind in Kerala cuisine and gives the dish its distinct flavour. 2. You can make this dish with any other small sized fish too.
