Got my dad back on his one-row D accordion to play this classic of French-Canadian music: Old French. This tune likely came from a 78rpm recording from Québec of "Reel à St-Tite" though I can't track this recording down to check on it. According to the Tune Archive, it spread through New England and then over to the West Coast through Kenny Hall. It's a staple or a "chestnut" of contradance music and just an all around awesome tune I never tire of. Check my Patreon and I'll do a fiddle lesson to show some of the variations I've developed over the years to make this tune more fun. Like and Subscribe if you're enjoying my 365 Tune of the Day Project! I appreciate all the support. And if you'd like a more in-depth look at the tunes, including source recordings, fiddle lessons, slowed down tunes, sheet music, transcriptions and more, sign up for my Patreon! / devonlegertunes
