Although seemingly easy, hose rolls on turnout gear in a hot sunny day can be a very tiring task. On the first part of the video, you will see Master Firefighter Dustin Lyle go through the basics of a hose roll and what to check for in the hose and how to maintain it. Little did we know that what he said was actually tested on the Firefighter I and II examinations for the Virginia Beach Fire Department both written and practical. On the second part of the video are the hose roll throws that we did. It was hard to use a chesty as the camera keeps getting hit by a lot of stuff on my turnout gear.
