Thursday, October 29, 2020 The Inland Empire Utilities Agency held a virtual groundbreaking event for the Regional Water Recycling Plant No. 5 Expansion Project. This RP-5 Expansion Project will increase the domestic wastewater solids and liquids treatment capacity to 22.5 million gallons per day and provide public health benefits required by the Federal Clean Water Act. This project will include infrastructure for RP-5's ultimate buildout to provide additional recycled water to supplement regional water supply reliability. The event featured presentations from distinguished guests and California State and Federal elected officials, including U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regional Administrator John Busterud, Congresswoman Norma J. Torres, Congresswoman Judy Chu, Congressman Pete Aguilar, Congressman Gil Cisneros, State Water Resources Control Board Vice Chair Dorene D’Adamo, CA State Senator Connie M. Leyva, CA State Senator Anthony Portantino, CA State Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez, and CA State Assemblymember Eloise Gomez-Reyes.
