This delicious crab curry is made in Mangalorean style, where crab is cooked with a freshly ground coconut masala, it is mildly spicy & really tasty with its is of coconut oil, coconut masala, thick coconut milk Do try this recipe Ingredients -1/2 kg Crab (wash & cleaned) Clean & wash throughly and cut them ROAST SPICES -5 short dry red chillies + 12 dry Bedagi red chilled -1 tbsp coriander seeds -1/4 tsp ajwain -1/4 tsp cumin -1 tsp mustard seeds -4 cloves -1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds -1 tbsp kaskas (poppy seeds) -Slightly dry roast and allow them to cool -1/2 sliced onion dry roast set aside MAKE MASALA (Add to a blender) -Fresh grated coconut -4 garlic -2” ginger -1/2 roasted onion -all Roasted spices with dry chillies -1/4 tsp turmeric powder -1/4 tsp black pepper powder -2 tbsp tamarind pulp -salt to taste -First blend without water off & on method twice, then add water as required and blend to a smooth paste and transfer to a cooking pot -Add half a cup of water or depending on the consistency of the curry you are looking for, bring to a boil -Add cleaned crab cover the lid and cook for 10 minutes or until the crab are done -Turn OFF the flame , Now add thick coconut milk and stir -Now turn ON the flame on very low flame cook stirring constantly for 1 more minutes -Add the seasoning TADKA/SEASONING -1 medium onion sliced -handful curry leaves -4 tbsp coconut oil -1 tbsp ghee -Heat coconut oil add sliced onion stir till golden, turn off the flame add curry leaves -wait for 2 minutes then add tadka over the curry, add ghee -Enjoy with steaming hot brown rice, with papad,pickles.
