The Hop Ground is an English Country Dance by Preston in 1794. It was interpreted by Bert Simons in about 1991. It is a proper duple minor dance. Found in "The Playford Assembly". The tune was published with the dance. It was performed by Bare Necessities (Earl Gaddis, Mary Lea, Peter Barnes, and Jacqueline Schwab) on the album "Strong Roots". It is used with permission of Country Dance Society, Boston Centre, Inc. https://www.cds-boston.org/ecdc/ The animation plays at 125 counts per bar normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses.
