F.Liszt: 'La Campanella' Etude, Maria Welna (concert pianist) - S. 141: No. 3

Here is my performance of Liszt’s ‘La Campanella’/ ‘The Bell’ Etude (No.3 from his 6 Grandes Études de Paganini). We’ve just concluded a couple of weeks dedicated to Liszt’s music through my ‘Concerts with an Audience’ residency, in order to commemorate the 137th anniversary of his death (31st July 1886). This virtuosic etude was a particular fixture of the Sydney residency over these last weeks, and, in true Lisztian spirit, always provided a good winter warm up for my icy fingers during some very cold performance nights. Liszt is the inspiration for my ‘Lisztomaria’ project (through which I champion virtuosity with substance) and is often showcased in the ‘Concerts with an Audience’ residency.
