Poha in microwave Poha (beaten rice)is a widely popular breakfast in central/western India. Very easy to make, it is seasoned with mustard seeds, green chillies, curry leaves and onion. The best part of poha is that it can be made with a variety of ingredients as per individual taste. The following recipe is a basic poha recipe and one can innovate with ease. Preparation Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: 10 minutes Servings: 3-4 Ingredients: Poha (Beaten/flattened rice)- 2 cups. Green peas- 2 Tbsp Raw peanuts- 2 Tbsp Salt- 1/2 tsp Sugar- 1 1/2 tsp Lemon juice For seasoning: Oil- 2 tsp. Mustard seeds- 1 tsp Green chillies- 3-4 ( finely chopped) Curry leaves- 8-10 Onion- 1 small (finely chopped) Haldi powder- 1/2 tsp For Garnishing: Onion (finely chopped). Coriander leaves- 2 tsp( finely chopped) Method: 1) Wash Poha and soak in water for 2 minutes. Drain in a sieve. 2) In a microwave safe dish heat oil for two minutes in the microwave at full power. 3) Add mustard seeds, green chillies and microwave for 1 minute. 4) Add half onions and curry leaves and microwave for 1 and 1/2 minutes. 5) Add peanuts, green peas and haldi powder and microwave it for another minute.. 6) Add and mix Poha and 1/2 tsp of salt. Cover the dish and microwave for two minutes. 7) Add 1 1/2 tsp of sugar and a few drops of lime juice and again microwave it for 2 minutes with the lid covered. 8) Garnish with onions and coriander leaves.
