I eat a bowl of soto, a dish of nasi goreng, a plate of satay Padang, and a huge box of chocolate fried bananas topped off with a coffee. I’ve never eaten this much food in one sitting in my life. I also chat with many of the stall owners and customers, and a friendly parking guy who is a fun guy. Eating local street food in Asia is intimidating for many first timers to the region so I try offer some advice on what to look out for as well as recommend some precautions like medications that can be taken should an upset stomach be the result of your foray into Asian street food. I also tell the story of having an embarrassing situation on a bus in Sumatra after getting stomach problems from the meal the night before.
