Urgh... Gynoug... On the outside it's so gruesomely pretty, yet inside it's rough! That being said, though. I like it. The frustrating flaws make it hard to love, though. Yes, this run is a legit Easy run. 2-ALL! The game has 2 loops! So why Easy instead of Normal? First, the patterns between Easy and Normal is THE EXACT SAME. Two, Easy's main differences are enemy HP is cut down by 25% and add some extra magics. That's, it. It's one of the laziest easy mode adjustments I've ever seen! With the same pattern including flankings from behind, only gets marginally easier because the reduced HP including for bosses, Easy should be the default Normal. I heard that Easy is the default in some versions, but in the Ratalaika port its default is Normal. Weird. Many praises for the game includes awesome gruesome graphics, yeah, this can be considered Cho Aniki -1 (because Cho Aniki Zero exists). But while the good parts of the stage design is good, it has many awful parts that will punish you heavily for not memorizing! Wrong step, especially long-term strategy, you're screwed! Stage 1 the zako rush, if you forget to not move too much you're done for. Stage 2, the seagulls from behind. Stage 3, later half if you pick up the red shot you're screwed because you let your top open! Don't get me started on the final boss because it's one of the worst I've ever fought on one of the worst stages ever made for it. I'll explain it in the commentary. Oh, controls. It's... weird. You can shoot, but to use magic you have to equip it first. You'll get scrolls and as it stacks, upgrading the equipped magic, you will get the stronger version. This is also where the problem lies. The usage is too situational. The strong thunder shot that pierces through walls doesn't hurt the Stage 1 mid boss and Stage 2 boss! Yet from the option magic it works for the Stage 4 boss. So what's the rule of the immunity!? What were they thinking!? Even the Easy mode is not easy! The difficulty is comparable to Power Strike II Hard, actually. It's just Power Strike II is both from slight HP buff and denser patterns, Gynoug is due to strict memorization. Which is not a good design! No, Gynoug is very far from a painful game to play, but to even 1-ALL for Normal it's a pain! Easy mode is much more recommended simply because it lets you survive Stage 5 better! #stg #shmup #nintendoswitch
