The water crisis in Detroit has a long history, that extends back before the national spotlight. Yet many people are unaware of the insidious practices that led us to this predicament, where unaffordable water rates are continually rising, and citizens are left without access to clean, safe, and affordable water. Even in a global pandemic, during which access to water is critical in protecting individuals from serious illness and death, Detroiters are once again facing large-scale water shutoffs at the end of 2022. At WPD our mission is to inform, train and mobilize citizens to use their power to create change. One of the ways we do that is by hosting quarterly webinars to keep our community informed and to arm you with the tools needed to take action and continue the fight for Water Justice.
