Eleven Democrats. One Republican. The special primary election in New Jersey's 11th Congressional District is proving competitive... and expensive. Candidates spent some $3.2 million through mid-January, and independent groups have spent at least $3.9 million, according to Federal Election Commission reports. The Republican and Democrat with the top votes in the Feb. 5 primary election, plus any independent candidates, will face off in the April 16 special election. The victor will serve the remainder of Mikie Sherrill's term in Congress, through Jan. 3, 2027.
