Access the program at https://sunbeatables.org Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States. One or more sunburns in childhood doubles a person’s lifetime risk of melanoma. Anyone, regardless of skin color, can develop skin cancer, including melanoma, the most deadly type. As we approach the time of year when kids start to spend more time outside, one topic you may want to consider including in your out of school time program is sun safety. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center created and developed Ray and the Sunbeatables®: A Sun Safety Curriculum to make sun safety a fun and engaging experience for children. Activities and lessons can be easily integrated with instruction and recreation plans across age groups and subjects. Participants in this webinar will learn about how to integrate sun safety into an out of school time program this summer and using the Sunbeatables® program as a free, evidence-based resource.
