Disruption and the Legal System: Transforming Harm in Turbulent Times

To disrupt (verb): “to break apart: rupture; to throw into disorder; to interrupt the normal course or unity of; to cause upheaval in.” What does it mean to disrupt systems? When is disruption of use? When is it morally necessary? When is it possible? And who can do it and how? Conceived and moderated by Rappaport Senior Fellow Danielle Sered, this panel explored disruption as a deliberate, courageous strategy—one that challenges core assumptions about power, legitimacy, and accountability, and creates space for real transformation. Panelists explored how organizing, advocacy, and repair can provide tools for resistance and reform.
