Come aboard this week for a two day trip down the Florida coast with us. This episode is packed full of details about our boat the Ruth Pearl and how we run her. After a night at anchor and another day on the water we end up at a private island marina that packs some serious history! Night number one we anchor at an awesome inlet just south of Anna Maria Island that is protected by Jewfish Key. At Jewfish we launch the tender and take you all to Shore Restaurant. Shore is a really nice waterfront spot on the north side of Longboat Key, Florida. After a peaceful nights rest at anchor we spend another day on the water traveling on a beautiful sunny day. Our destination is a very interesting private island that has a claim to fame to say the least, Cabbage Key. Cabbage Key is well known as a lunch spot for locals and tourists but can only be traveled to by boat. However many don't know that the tiny private marina there allows overnight stay for boats up to 100ft!! Cabbage Key is rumored to be the island that Jimmy Buffett wrote the song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" This tiny island is just amazing to visit. All of the staff is transported in by boat every morning before breakfast and back home ever night after dinner, leaving us to the island pretty much all to ourselves.
