If you've heard of Virtual-On's Saturn port, you've probably heard that it also includes a playable version of the hidden boss Jaguarandi...and is often said that is "nerfed" compared to the boss version and even the PS2 SEGA AGES playable version. And while its true that BOTH playable version are nerfed in armor/durability [specifically, you are as vulnerable as CPU Jag after ONE continue, which is roughly around as weak as Viper-II], you may see here that the actual fighting stuff, which is the weaponry and their damage, are absolutely NOT nerfed at all. Or doesn't feel like it, because its quite OP. The fact you can Round Start with the center weapon and deal 50% or more damage to EVERY CPU as they don't try jumping out of the way, even in Hard diff [closest to that was Round 1 Raiden moving to the left and getting saved by the obstacle, which is why in Round 2, I dash and use CW to make sure Raiden doesn't do it again] should be enough evidence. But of course, that wouldn't be enough if all Jag had was a strong but slow weapon like Raiden's beam...so that's where the missiles [strong like Belgdor and Raiden's] and the trap bomb [kinda crazy tracking with how it works] come in to finish the round after that. So...that's how I end up getting an EX-S Rank midway through and end the run under less than 5 minutes despite the fact that I had to win two rounds per match to continue. The ONLY thing Jaguarandi has to fear is Z-Gradt's projectiles because Jaguarandi's beam does NOT erase them [unlike Raiden's], and pair that with slow dash speeds, and you have an actually tense final boss fight to get through. I got lucky that I could hit enough attacks on the first gold phase AND that Z-Gradt decided to have mercy by using the second gold phase with 30 seconds left in instead of...I don't know, 20 or even 10 seconds remaining. Apologies for the RetroArch achievement popups appearing during the game - forgot to turn them off assuming that this maybe would be a bit harder and was curious if a Jag run would allow me get achievements beyond the one where you beat the game as Jag [...and it did, somehow]. And for the screenshot at the end - I wanted to have a crispy native-res shot to later crop out a Jaguarandi render from it lol
