The Holy Spirit doesn’t just comfort us. He confronts us. And that confrontation is one of the greatest kindnesses God can give, because it’s how He keeps us close, keeps us clean, and keeps us growing. In this message, The Kindness that Confronts, we kick off our Holy Spirit series by looking at John 16:7–11 and the conviction of the Spirit. Conviction isn’t God trying to shame you. It’s God trying to save you. Like a warning light on your dashboard, the Spirit points out what needs attention before it becomes damage that didn’t have to happen. This sermon breaks down the three ways Jesus says the Holy Spirit convicts: of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. The Spirit exposes sin so we can repent, shows us Christ as the standard so we can grow, and reminds us that sin has consequences so we don’t drift into destruction. For believers, conviction is protection and loving discipline. For unbelievers, it’s mercy and a warning, God pulling them toward salvation before it’s too late. If you’ve been ignoring that inner nudge, that heaviness, that “something’s off” feeling, this message reframes it. That’s not condemnation. That’s not shame. That’s not God giving up on you. That’s the Spirit helping you, because He loves you too much to leave you where you are. 📖 Scripture References John 16:7–11 Romans 8:1 Hebrews 12:2 1 Corinthians 10:31 Hebrews 4:12 Ephesians 6:17 1 Timothy 2:3–4 Proverbs 24:16 💬 Key Themes The Holy Spirit is God, not a force Conviction is kindness, not condemnation The Spirit exposes sin to lead us to repentance The Spirit reveals righteousness by pointing us to Christ True conviction aligns with God’s Word Conviction protects believers and warns unbelievers God’s discipline is proof of His love Today is the day of salvation The Spirit’s conviction is not meant to crush you.
