Chapter 10 of Route Unknown. The last ride before the next phase begins. Stay tuned. After a few days recovering at my friend Özgür’s place in Ayvalık (legend), I finally hit the road again. 60 km to Bergama. Pure highway. Nothing special, just some cats on the way and rain — classic Turkish cycling combo. Took shelter under some tiny roof until it passed. Then the fun part: riding into Bergama at night, in the rain. Not ideal, but yeah… survived. Arrived in Bergama (ancient Pergamon), the mythical city with the steepest ancient theater and a long history of innovation. Basically the Manhattan of the ancient world. Staying with a Warmshowers legend — a dentist. Because cycling is random like that.
