In this video, I’m working in my crazy quilt stitch book, exploring a decorative seam inspired by a piece Jennifer Clouston shared recently. This seam combines a feather-style stitch variation with colonial knots, back stitch, detached chain stitches, and cast on stitches to build texture and movement along the seam line. I talk through my process as I stitch—making adjustments, changing threads, and letting the seam evolve naturally rather than forcing a strict plan. This page becomes part of my ongoing stitch dictionary and embroidery reference book, where I document ideas, variations, and combinations that I can return to later. I’m using a mix of Color Streams cotton threads and DMC floss, experimenting with subtle variegation, metallic accents, and knot placement. Toward the end, I also share a tip about using a milliner’s needle for cast on stitches and other wrapped embroidery stitches. This video is part of my slow, intuitive approach to crazy quilting and hand embroidery, focused on learning through stitching and building a personal textile reference over time. 🧵 Join the conversation in my Facebook group / cherjohnstonstitchbookcommunity ☕ Support the channel on Ko-fi (buy me a coffee) https://ko-fi.com/cherjohnston54811 Thanks so much for spending some quiet stitching time with me. #crazyquilting #crazyquiltstitches #handembroidery #embroideryseams #stitchbook #textileart #slowstitching #embroideryinspiration
