Ukraine Air Force Antonov AN-26 Landing & Take Off Rotterdam Airport

An Antonov at Rotterdam Airport?! Get out! Never going to happen. Especially with all the noise regulations etc. However, miracles do happen. Yesterday evening an Ukraine Air Force Antonov AN-26, 01 BLUE, touched down at runway 24 in the darkness. It's the first Antonov at Rotterdam in over 10 years, and the first Antonov at Rotterdam which I have spotted. I have a vivid memory of myself playing on a square near my home at 2 years old, and an enormous loud turboprop flew over really low. Later in my life, I found out that was the Antonov AN-22, which visited Rotterdam in 1999. Rotterdam actually saw Antonov's and other Soviet hardware quite regular back in the day. But as times were changing, they were no longer deemed welcome. This 48 year old AN-26 might very well be the last Antonov ever at Rotterdam, but offcourse I hope not. It's an insane visitor, and it was incredible to catch its departure earlier today together with a lot of fellow avgeeks. It's start up was really loud. It's the fastest taxiing aircraft I have ever seen here offcourse the take off was a long roll and a slow climb-out with smoke trails. The light was pretty good too! This is my sixth AN-26 catch, but only the third one I have seen flying. This is also my first catch of an aircraft from the Ukraine Air Force. Oh man! A month ago Rotterdam got a C-17, and now this! I'm not sure what could top those two! I hope there is more to come!
