After a remarkable 43-year career of service to the residents of the City of Oxnard, Oxnard Police Department Corporal Ken Tougas has made his final 10-7 [ out of service ] broadcast. The following radio call speaks for itself: "Attention Units, please stand-by for the final radio broadcast of retiring Corporal Ken Tougas Badge, number 2-3-2-9. For the past 43 years, Corporal Tougas has served the residents of the City of Oxnard. His career began on September 21st, 1981 when he was hired by Chief Robert Owens. Corporal Tougas has worked various assignments as a Field Training Officer, the first sever School Resource Officer, and a detective in the Field Tactical Unit, Narcotics Unit, the first ever County-wide Narcotics Task Force and Major Crimes. Corporal Tougas, your dedication, strong work ethic and commitment to the Oxnard Police Department and the residents of this community have been deeply appreciated. Those that worked with you in your various assignments have valued your leadership, and willingness to help in any way possible to get things done. The sacrifices made during the lengthy investigations did not go unnoticed and were greatly appreciated. Thank you and your family for allowing us to be a part of your extended career. Corporal Tougas while your presence will be severely missed your legacy of service and sacrifices made will never be forgotten. David-14 is now 10-7."
