Welcome back to the channel! Another Saturday and another model railway exhibition. This time we travel down to (normally sunny but not this day) Dorset and the Bournemouth Model Railway Exhibition, organised by the East Dorset N Gauge Group and held at the Kinson Community Centre. This was a new venue for the exhibition. Overall, a decent show, with plenty of new layouts to see, as well as some regulars. Trade support was generally local traders and just about adequate - I didnt buy anything, but thats probably just as well, as its been an expensive start to the year, model wise! Layouts on show, in exhibition order, were as follows: Croscombe - GWR branch terminus in O gauge. Lisworth Bay - LSWR branch in N gauge. Awreville Diesel Depot - A layout still under development. A diesel depot in O gauge, running dcc sound fitted locos, automated by computer. Brewery Lane - Steam and diesel sheds in O gauge. Karlisle - A N gauge project to closely represent the Southern end of Carlisle station and approaches. Moor Boxes - Lots of box files, containing either a through line or completely individual scenic layouts in N gauge. Goathorn - O gauge layout featuring a line to a pier, located on Poole Harbour. Rheilfford Wraniwm - A OO9 Welsh narrow gauge layout - getting on for 25 years but being upgraded by its now owner. Autenbak - HO 3.5mm scale, automated "tuning fork" micro layout, set high in the mountains of Germany. Box Metals - OO gauge micro layout, of sidings serving a scrapyard - in an A4 boxfile! Sturminster Newton - N gauge model of the Dorset market town station, on the famous S&D. Feorag - A OO9 narrow gauge railway module (a larger version can be seen in one of my Great Electric Train Show films). Some brilliant scenary features. White Meadow Quarry - another N gauge gem from builders Anna and Ray - this is a roundy roundy with a branchline and quarry sidings too. Modbury - My best in show layout - and that is a bit of a surprise. Not the type of layout I would normally go for, but the scenery is exquisite, the former broad gauge trackwork beautiful and the rolling stock brilliant (all scratchbuilt?) - and 2mm finescale to boot. Fair play to the builder and it all works fantastically. Carlyon Dock - OO gauge layout loosely representing the entrance to Par Docks, with a passenger branchline added (to replace the Cornish mainline). Penworth - N gauge GWR branchline terminus, with scenery built to Pendon standards! The detail is immense (I'm running out of adjectives lol). Bowcombe - OO9 narrow gauge layout of a through station, on a fictional branchline in South Devon. Bristol Harbour - This is more a diorama than layout - as the lady operating it said to me, "I need to remember to move the trains every now and then or we will be thrown out!" OO gauge trains work up and down the harbourside, filling and emptying the ships with goods - and yes, the cranes work! Gamma Silo Rotary - A Distopian diesel punk themed shunting layout in 7mm scale ON30. Designed to raise an interest in railways and modelling, within the teen viewer. The Depot At The End Of Time - OO gauge depot layout that seems to be under attack from classic Dr Who adversaries! An interesting back story (which I still cant get my brain around) means that rolling stock from any era can be seen running, side by side. Benbridge - N gauge layout by the host group. A through mainline station, with branchline connection, running through some lovely countryside - what N gauge can do best! Sillhurst - A N gauge branch terminus, set on the Southern Region of BR, in the 1950's / 1960's. The branch also has 3rd rail electrification. Ditcheat Junction - An up to date, modern era, through Berks and Hants route station, with branchline. DCC sound features. Shillington Light Railway (not Shillingstone as per my video caption!) - 7mm scale narrow gauge, running on 6.5 mm trackwork. Lots of scratchbuilding and kit bashing features. Well, I hope you enjoyed the film. Please leave comments, share and subscribe. Your interaction helps the channel build and reach others. It also motivates me to continue filming! There will probably be a break in filming for a few weeks as I am doing some exhibiting of my layouts in the coming months and that wont leave me time to film. best wishes. Iain
