How to repair and paint rims (MOTIP review) Step 1: Remove rims & clean them Make sure all stains are removed and degreased Step 2: Sand down damaged areas of the rim Start with 40-grit sandpaper, finish with your finest frit sand paper (use p600 wet/dry sandpaper) Step 3: Mask off wheels, valves and logos by using masking tape and paper sheets to protect it from overspray Step 4: Apply Primer Apply 3-4 light coats of primer When there are drops or uneven parts, wait 10minutes and sand them down using fine sandpaper Step 5: Apply paint Apply 2 light and 2 heavier coats of paint Step 6: Apply Clearcoat Apply 1 light and 2 heavier coats of clearcoat Step 7: Cleanup Remove any masking tape and sandpaper Enjoy the result
