On Sunday 14th July 2024, we visited Blackpool town centre to film and photograph between Blackpool North Railway Station tram plaza and North Pier. Trams in service were: T1: 006 010 011 012AD T2: 002 018 T3: 008 015 016AD 017 Engineering test: 600 Promenade special: 718 Heritage: 631 Driver training: 723 The loadings on trams to and from Blackpool North Station show just how much this is an essential link on the Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway. At North Pier, though, Blackpool Council really must look at the badly faded box junction that drivers are totally ignoring and obstructing trams crossing from Talbot Square. The box junction needs to be renewed and extended. Similarly, traffic leaving Talbot Square to turn north onto North Promenade is totally confused because the northbound traffic lane is not marked and many cars simply, and quite understandably find themselves on the tramway. This is a health and safety issue that is being ignored. There are no "TRAM ONLY" markings at all, no white lines and none of the black bollards with "No Entry" signs on them. Before long an accident will occur at this point so, come on Blackpool Council, do something about it!!
