At a recent fund-raising concert at the Lord Erroll in Nairobi, some of the children from Cheryl's Children's Home from Dagoretti (www.cherylshome.org) sang 5 songs, one of which was a Swahili song entitled "Nipishe Njia", a song praising God and his greatness. The title loosely translates as "Show me the way", and is introduced by Ziporah Mumbi. Without exception, every child at Cheryl's has overcome an horrific past, and now has great hope for the future. In the words of Samuel Sambuli (Director of Cheryl's Children's Home) - "Education is the key to every child's future". Any little imperfections in tuning are greatly outweighed by the children's undoubted enthusiasm, and wonderfully choreographed actions! Thanks to Mary Langat at Cheryl's for the tuition. This was just one of four fund-raising concerts in June 2009, in aid of "Kenya Build" (www.kenyabuild.com), a Sligo-based charity established by Basil Love, in order to build and upgrade orphanages in the Nairobi area. Also appearing in the concerts were Maeve Coghlan (Soprano - www.myspace.com/maevecoghlan), and James Nelson (Tenor - www.celtictenors.com and www.jamesdnelson.com). The concert accompanist is Colm Henry - www.myspace.com/colmhenry.
