Charlotte Fire Responds to West Boulevard Fire, Arson Suspect Apprehended for Fourth Time This morning at 7:54 a.m., Charlotte Fire received a report of a structure fire in the 400 block of West Boulevard. Multiple units were dispatched to the scene, with Engine 2 arriving at 7:57 a.m. to find smoke coming from the roof of the building. At 7:59 a.m., Battalion 3 assumed command of the incident and struck a second alarm, bringing additional resources to support firefighting efforts. Charlotte Fire crews conducted a search of the building and confirmed no occupants were inside. The fire was brought under control by 8:20 a.m. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force responded to the scene and determined the fire had been intentionally set. A suspect was apprehended by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Arson Detective assigned to the task force. This individual has now been linked to and apprehended for each of the previous three fires at this same location on January 27, January 29, and February 6. The estimated property loss from the fire is $15,000. Charlotte Fire Chief Reginald Johnson commended the efforts of the firefighters and investigators who responded to the call. “Our crews worked swiftly to contain the fire and ensure the safety of the surrounding community. The collaboration between Charlotte Fire and our investigative partners was instrumental in bringing this case to a resolution. I am incredibly proud of their dedication and professionalism,” said Fire Chief Johnson. Charlotte Fire remains committed to protecting the community and ensuring that repeat offenders are held accountable.
