It's the middle of winter and the UK is in the grip a second storm in quick succession. Yet variety is the spice of fishing and despite a ropey weather forecast I decide to try a new venue in the Farnham Angling Society book - TARN POND in Surrey. It's an old estate lake with a rich history in carp fishing, but I've also heard about shoals of big bream, with some slabs running into double figures and a chance of catching one, even in January, when low pressure is in charge. Armed with this tantalising information, plus some groundbait, dead reds and a feeder rod, I wrap up warm and venture into the storm in search of a winter bream!
