Years of natural disasters, corruption and armed conflict have crippled South Sudan's healthcare system. What little remains is almost entirely through foreign donors, with more than 80 percent covered by NGOs like the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Doctors Without Borders (MSF). But the ICRC says even these donations "only cover for a very small part of the needs that the population are facing", with the arrival of refugees fleeing conflict in Sudan adding additional pressure to an already overstretched system.
